Blaze

Very loosely based on the novel I will be adding to from time to time (besides the fish and the creature).

He stood, then looked around. A small flame came from his palm. He concentrated all of his energy into this small flame, like he had done time and time again. The flame grew big enough to light the passage. He passed a room with a tank at either side, these must have been the walls. Inside the one on his left, he found a small, brown goldfish, swimming through the water slowly. Something went up the ladder in front of him so quickly it almost flew up. He gulped and walked towards it slowly, cautiously. Then the floor above him collapsed, revealing a creature so hideous, he could barely look at it. The flame in his hand grew into a fireball, taking up most of the energy he had left, but still he made it grow. Soon, it became a blazing, boiling inferno, so huge he could barely hold it in place. Then he threw it. The creature tried to block it, but it was too huge. The creature was gone in nanoseconds. He smiled. “Glad that’s taken care of,” then he climbed the ladder into the next room.
