Elemental

James stood in the doorway, waiting for Daniel to arrive. He waited, a bright, searing flame coming from his palm. Daniel’s always late, and he calls himself the leader, but what if I was in charge? He saw a silhouette striding down the hallway. The bird perched on James’ shoulder, a phoenix, looked wary. “Strange,” James murmured to himself, “he’s never this tense…” The silhouette neared and James realised why his pet was wary. This wasn’t Daniel. The creature lumbered in, it was made of rock and dirt. James sprung and smashed into it with a kick, knocking some of its boulders off, as well as a pile of dirt. He landed, the creature swinging its arm. James dodged with a backflip. He clicked his finger and ran. Suddenly, he heard a sound louder than anything he’d ever heard. He had blown it to pieces.
